For some time I have been wondering if I should not be linking my google docs CPD spread sheet, into Evernote, simply because I put a lot of information into the spreadsheet in the form of notes re the type and duration of my CPD, time, description and method, plus links to the source if I can.
So I have started to experiment, and my first stab is simply to copy and paste a single row of information from my google spread sheet into Evernote, it works just fine, in that you get a tab or comma delimitated row of text, including the links if I have made any. A few tags to help find it, oh here I have desired to creat specific tags for my CPD, so I have added CPD, Record folder, and a tag with a character I will never use like ~1.
I did try and use just the google docs URL, but it's was not of any use, so back to cut and paste.
So at least I have a searchable record of the event within Evernote, so any search I make in Google Chrome, will bring up not only items I have saved specifically into Evernote, but also my CPD notes.
Next I want to automate this, so I tried to use the spreadsheet function in a new Evernote, but alas there is no import, pasting just puts all the information into one cell. I have not given up on this so I will work at it a while. I have also looked at “if this than that” the Evernote automation partner, I can't find and usefull link, but have asked the question.
Not really CPD, but it will help me find my CPD notes and aid me in further research, no all I have to do is go back over the last few years on records and do a bit of copy and paste.
