Architectural Technologist – A slow morning and little to keep me warm

That old brick wall, no not the real brick wall, but the literary one is upon me, Ooooh. For well over 3 years I have been writing this blog, almost on a daily basis, looking at items, subjects, topics that might be of interest, to us all, re our need to keep up with the 35 hours of CPD we all need to do, for the most part, it’s been relatively easy to write about what ever comes into my mind, old photos, drawings, bok, web sites, just hundreds of them, have all contributed to the morning task, but today, it’s cold and I am sitting here wondering what to write that will be of use. The cold seems to be the current thought in my mind, I spent 14 years telling people how to use insulation, and still I see it used in the most strangest of ways, and so often in the wrong place.but today that is not important, today I’m cold, so yet another jumper layer goes on, rather than turning the heat on or up,

I’m currently reading through Jon Pickups very excellent Vectorworks Architect tutorial book, the leap from the essentials book I reviewed last weel to Architect is all about 3D right from the start, Jon enters the fray with look at the new Stories feature in Vectorworks 2012, which is a tool to link floors, walls and ceilings together,  I rather like this new tool, it makes sense to link items that are perseved to be together, within one storie. But more on Jons book later, when I have read through it and watched, some if not all of the PDF videos that are on the CD in the back of the book. I also have the 3D modeling tutorial as well, and again this will have to wait until I have read through it , perhaps in conjunction with the Architect book.

For light reading, I have picked up a book from the iBook store, called, Walden, by Henry David Thoreau, the opening paragraph in Wiki, say “The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and manual for self reliance”, they are not wrong there, I have only just started it, so a little early to say if I will stick with it, but at present I’m sort of with it , if you know what I mean, I saw the book on an old Rock Hudson film, Wendy my partner was watching, and for some reason looked it up, well what else is there to do with one of his films playing !, and found it was a free book on the iBook store, so I down loaded it, and started to read, again slightly better than watching Rock Hudson.

Snow looks like it’s going to come over the weekend in the UK, not surprised realy looking at the way the cold weather is pushing in from the East, and the fact we have warm ish moist air pushing in from the West, so as soon as the two meet, the warm air will rise over the cold front and low and behold, we have snow, now its obvious that it’s a 90% chance that snow is coming, yet so many ignore it and go about their life’s as normal, yet just a few simple precautions like getting the snow shovel in easy reach, getting rock salt in stock, and a few essentials in the main food cupboard, might just make life easer this weekend. I have a good stock of beer, plenty of crisps and a load of steak and vegetables in the freezer, so should be ok. oh we have just purchased a stock of Candles, !, you never know.
