Just finished an online Vectorworks training session with Jon Pickup of Archoncad, looking at creating symbols in both 2D and 3D, attaching a simple databases to them, and then using that data to create reports via the built in spread sheet within Vectorworks, it was supposed to be a one hour session but we ended up talking and watching the screen for nearly 1 1/2 hours. We will be getting notes and the usual video clips from Jon over the next few days as a reminder. These little items or symbols are so easy to make, and don’t forget that we can assign multiple class layers to the symbol to switch of parts if it helps to show a symbol better.
As always the conversation at the end wandered a little from subject to subject and one of the guys commented that we should have this type of conversation as one complete lesson, looking back over the many lesson plans Jon has produced, so unless it changes, we will be having a look back over the lessons in July, before then I think we are looking at 3D plumbing, Rendering, and a real interesting item, Energy calcs on Vectorworks. But don’t forget, if your a Short Sharp Training member, all the past lesson notes are available on the Archoncad web site. I will be claiming the full 2 hours for this session, of quality training.
