I have over the last few moths been required by several local authorities to put a note on my drawing re the discharge od rainwater, the building regs now puts soakaways as the best means, So I started looking for a decent spec and came up with an agrement approved product from polypipe. The notes and tech help on their product is quite useful and come by way of a decent pdf document

But I wanted more information, so first point of call is the building regs, H3 Rainwater drainage,

Here they just say there are 3 ways to discharge

  • Soakaway
  • Watercourse
  • Sewer

Also the regs state that methods of drainage other than connection to a public surface water sewer are encouraged where technically feasible, Further down the page the regs offers some good advise on the placement, and performance , see H3.2

There is also a decent report on Ciria, report 156 Infiltration drainage, manual of good practice.
